About this organization
Mission
The United States Lighthouse Society is a nonprofit historical and educational organization incorporated to assist in the restoration and preservation of America's light stations, and to help qualified local groups in their efforts to return the nation's lighthouses to the public domain. The Society believes that even though the era of manned light stations has come to a close, those remaining symbols of our maritime heritage can, and should, be preserved for future generations. With this in mind, the U.S. Lighthouse Society was founded to educate, inform, and entertain those who are interested in America's light stations, past and present, and to aid in the preservation of these historic structures.
About
Assist, in every possible way, the restoration and preservation of Americas light stations, research the history of light stations, lightships, and related aids to navigation. To serve as the means of communication between all who care about the preservation and restoration of these unique symbols of our maritime heritage.
