First 5 Service Corps partnered with 13 county First 5 Commissions and community based organizations to improve the social, emotional, literacy, and math skills of economically disadvantaged children during their first five years of life. The primary program outcome is to prepare children to be ready to learn when they enter school. Services include child development skills building through home visits, family resource center groups, and classrooms. Prevent Child Abuse California serves as the intermediary under contract to the California Children & Families Foundation. During 2018, 78 members provided pre-school targeted dosage services to 1637 children. 1030 children demonstrated gains in literacy, 647 demonstrated gains in social/emotional, and 605 demonstrated gains in numeracy (math) skills.
