JOHN MUIR MEDICAL CENTER, WALNUT CREEK SERVES AS THE ONLY COUNTY-DESIGNATED TRAUMA CENTER FOR THE AREA, WORKING CLOSELY WITH LOCAL EMERGENCY SERVICES LEADERS. THE JMH TRAUMA CENTER RECEIVED THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEON'S COMMITTEE ON TRAUMA UNCONDITIONAL RE-VERIFICATION AS A LEVEL II TRAUMA CENTER. THE TRAUMA CENTER SAW 2,287 PATIENTS IN 2018. NATIONAL RECOGNITIONS RECEIVED IN 2018 INCLUDE: (1) RECOGNITION OF JOHN MUIR MEDICAL CENTER, WALNUT CREEK BY U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT FOR THE 12TH YEAR IN A ROW AS ONE OF "AMERICA'S BEST HOSPITALS". GYNECOLOGY SERVICES AT THE WALNUT CREEK CAMPUS WERE RECOGNIZED AS AMONG THE TOP 50 IN THE UNITED STATES FOR THE SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR, (2) RECOGNITION OF SEVEN SERVICES COMBINED AND NINE ADULT PROCEDURES AND CONDITIONS COMBINED AT JOHN MUIR MEDICAL CENTER, WALNUT CREEK AND JOHN MUIR MEDICAL CENTER, CONCORD AS HIGH PERFORMING BY U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT, (3) FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR, THE CONCORD MEDICAL CENTER WAS ONE OF ONLY 29 HOSPITALS NATIONWIDE (LESS THAN 1%) TO RECEIVE HIGH PERFORMING RATING IN ALL NINE ADULT PROCEDURES AND CONDITIONS EVALUATED (4) U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT ALSO RANKED THE CONCORD MEDICAL CENTER #2 AND WALNUT CREEK MEDICAL CENTER #3 OUT OF ALL 44 HOSPITALS IN THE SAN FRANCISCO-OAKLAND AREA BASED ON PATIENT SURVIVAL, PATIENT SAFETY, AND CARE-RELATED FACTORS SUCH AS NURSING AND PATIENT SERVICES, AND REPUTATION. (5) JOHN MUIR HEALTH'S CONCORD AND WALNUT CREEK MEDICAL CENTERS WERE 2 OF JUST 520 HOSPITALS OR ABOUT 10% NATIONALLY THAT EARNED THE DESIGNATION OF BEST HOSPITALS BY U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT.
