THE SPECIFIC PURPOSES OF THE ORGANIZATION ARE TO PROTECT HOMES, COMMUNITIES AND ENVIRONMENT FROM WILDFIRES IN THE AREA OF IDYLLWILD, CALIFORNIA IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FIRE SAFE LAWS OF THE STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS; TO PRESERVE AND ENHANCE IDYLLWILD AND SURROUNDING AREAS AND MAN-MADE AND NATURAL RESOURCES BY PROVIDING LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT THAT MOBILIZES IDYLLWILD RESIDENTS TO PROTECT THEIR HOMES, COMMUNITIES AND ENVIRONMENT FROM WILDFIRES.

THE MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY FIRE SAFE COUNCIL (MCFSC) PROMOTES COMMUNITY FIRE AWARENESS AND HAS IMPLEMENTED A FIRE ABATEMENT PROGRAM. THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL IN OBTAINING GRANT FUNDING TO ASSIST PROPERTY OWNERS ABATE THEIR PROPERTIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL AND STATE FIRE SAFE REGULATIONS. FOR FINANCIAL REPORTING PURPOSES ONLY, IN 2018, MCFSC REPORTED $47,175 IN DONATED FIRE ABATEMENT SERVICES AS BOTH EXCESS IN-KIND CONTRIBUTION REVENUE AND AS DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEER SERVICE EXPENSES PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE USDA FOREST SERVICE GRANT AND U.S. GAAP.
