About this organization
Mission
The Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance is committed to supporting and strengthening Washington's small family farm businesses by creating and operating vibrant, successful neighborhood farmers markets. To meet our mission we organize 7 neighborhood farmers markets in Seattle, including 3 that run year-round, we facilitate and fund wholesale contracts between small growers and regional food banks, and we engage consumers about local farm products and the importance of supporting and preserving local farmland. We have been at the forefront of advocating for low-income benefit programs to ensure equal access to locally grown, nutrient dense food. Today we implement a number of food security programs including Fresh Bucks, SNAP, and SNAP market match (fruit and vegetable incentives).
About
Provided effective direct sales sites for our region's small farmers and educated consumers about farm products and the benefits of buying direct from local farmers. We currently operate seven local, "producer-only" Neighborhood Farmers Markets. This means we sell only Washington State farm produce and processed foods.
