DURING 2018, PROJECT FEAST'S PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED: I. PROVIDING PATHWAYS TO EMPLOYMENT IN FOOD INDUSTRY: THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED ITS 18-WEEK CULINARY APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM AS WELL AS UBUNTU STREET CAF AND CATERING IN KENT, WA. THEY ACCEPT REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS FROM LOW INCOME BACKGROUNDS WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT USING THEIR CULINARY SKILLS AS APPRENTICES. ONCE THEY COMPLETE THE PROGRAM, THEY RECEIVE CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS FROM HIGHLINE COLLEGE, WHICH CAN BE CONVERTED TO ACADEMIC CREDITS IF THEY CHOOSE TO ENROLL IN THE COLLEGE IN THE FUTURE. IN 2018, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED TRAINING SERVICES TO 11 REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS FROM 6 COUNTRIES: ETHIOPIA, MEXICO, CHINA, KENYA, INDIA, AND PUERTO RICO. 9 OUT OF 11 APPRENTICES GRADUATED AND MOST FOUND EMPLOYMENT OR STARTED THEIR OWN FOOD BUSINESS. II. COMMUNITY EVENTS TO FACILITATE INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE: IN ALL, THE ORGANIZATION CREATED OVER 5,000 EXPERIENCES CENTERED AROUND THE CUISINE OF REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS THROUGH OUR VARIOUS EVENTS AND CATERING... 1. MIGRATING MEALS - FEATURED 10 RESTAURANTS OWNED/OPERATED BY REFUGEE/IMMIGRANTS IN SEATTLE AND SOUTH KING COUNTY. 150 GUESTS IN THE GREATER SEATTLE AREA EXPERIENCED A NEW CUISINE, MET THE REFUGEE/IMMIGRANT CHEF OR OWNER, AND DISCUSSED A TOPIC OF IMPORTANCE. 2. JOURNEY TO PEACE - 100 PEOPLE EXPERIENCED A NATIVE AMERICAN FEAST CEREMONY, MET PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES, HEARD LIFE EXPERIENCES OF PEOPLE OF REFUGEE/IMMIGRANT BACKGROUND, OR NATIVE AMERICAN, AFRICAN AMERICAN, OR CAUCASIAN HERITAGE. 3. POP-UP EVENTS - OVER 200 PEOPLE EXPERIENCED A LUNCH OR DINNER AT 7 POP- UP EVENTS THAT CENTERED AROUND OUR REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT PARTICIPANTS' CUISINE OR EXPERIENCE. 2 EVENTS WERE FOCUSED ON FEEDING THOSE WHO WERE FACING HOMELESSNESS. 2 OTHER EVENTS WERE OFFERED FOR FREE SO THAT EVEN THOSE WHO COULD NOT AFFORD 40 FOR A POP-UP DINNER COULD STILL EXPERIENCE INTERNATIONAL CUISINE. 4. CATERING - OVER 5000 GUESTS WERE FED THROUGH OUR REVENUE GENERATING CATERING PROGRAM. THE ORGANIZATION'S CATERING FEATURES THE DISHES OF OUR APPRENTICES.
