About this organization
Mission
The center is committed to assisting blind and visually impaired persons to achieve the fullest development and utilization of their capacities and integration into the social, economic and cultural life of the community.
About
Those who are blind and visually impaired can receive independent living services from the center. Any person unable to participate in normal activities of daily living because of his or her loss of sight can call on our independent living program for help. Our independent living specialist will call and make an appointment to visit the person in need in their home. She will mark appliances for the person to operate safely, see what magnification of lenses may be needed and explain free services available to the individual. In addition, she will assist in any way possible to make the person more self-sufficient. A total of 186 clients were served during the year. Funding for this program is provided entirely by a grant from the Washington State Department of Services for the Blind.
