About
We provide highly trained and empathetic staff and volunteers to people whose lives have devastated by violent crime, regardless of case status, at no cost to the victims. During the period of 7/1/17 to 6/30/18, we served 7,138 clients through courtroom support, help with crime victim compensation benefits, media intervention, and more. Answered 3,201 individual callers on the statewide hotline. We trained 1,200 participants in Core Academy and continuing education workshops. Provided outreach and awareness to 9,902 community members and partners. We also provided trauma-informed therapy for 398 clients. We provide the following services: 24-hour statewide hotline and texting (888-288-9221), one-on-one crisis intervention, criminal justice system advocacy and intervention, courtroom support, media intervention, resources, referrals, and education services.Crime victimization leaves victims, families and friends - even the community around them - in a state of crisis and chaos most victims must deal not only with the physical and emotional shockwaves of the crime but are also thrust into the criminal justice system combined with the sense of helplessness, powerlessness and a loss of control, often their crisis response is put on hold while they mobilize their survival skills to traverse the unfamiliar territory of the criminal justice system. The path through notification, arrest, trial and sentencing is long and arduous once complete, the emotional devastation returns.
