MCHA ADDRESSES THE DUAL PROBLEMS OF HOUSING AFFORDABILITY AND AVAILABILITY ON THREE FRONTS: ACQUISITION AND NEW CONSTRUCTION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING, DIRECT ASSISTANCE IN SECURING HOUSING AND NEEDED BASIC SERVICES, AND EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY TO PROMOTE HOUSING POLICY.

SEVEN MORE SELF HELP HOMES WERE STARTED DURING THE FISCAL YEAR. MCHT RECEIVED THE ENTITLEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 49 AFFORDABLE SINGLE FAMILY HOMES AND TOWNHOUSES FOR "ESSENTIAL WORKERS" IN WASATCH COUNTY. INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS HAVE STARTED. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, SHOP FUNDS TOTALING 121,500 WERE FORGIVEN BY HOUSING ASSISTANCE COUNCIL AS A RESULT OF COMPLETING SELF HELP HOMES WITH QUALIFIED BUYERS. MCHT OBTAINED APPROVALS FOR 64 APARTMENTS THAT WILL NOW BE FOR SALE CONDOMINIUMS IN THE NEW SILVER CREEK VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT. CONSTRUCTION WILL START THIS MONTH. MCHT HAD TWO NEW HIRES, DANIELA LO FEUDO TO OVERSEE THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM, CROWN PROGRAM AND WRITING GRANTS. MICHAEL BUTTERS FOR WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT AND IT ADMINISTRATOR ONE DAY PER WEEK. AT YEAR END, MCHT REMAINED IN A STRONG FINANCIAL POSITON WITH OVER 1,152,769 IN UNRESTRICTED CASH AND OVER 562,000 IN FUNDS ADVANCED FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS.
