About
THE ORGANIZATION MANAGES FEDERAL HOUSING GRANTS, AWARDED THROUGH HUD, FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NEEDS. THE HUD COC GRANTS ARE COMPRISED PRIMARILY OF TENANT BASED RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS, WHICH PROVIDE PERSONS WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS AND/OR OTHER BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NEEDS THAT ARE PROGRAM ELIGIBLE TO LOCATE APPROPRIATE HOUSING THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. SIMILAR TO AVOUCHER BASED PROGRAM, THIS ALLOWS THE PARTICIPANT TO OBTAIN HOUSING THAT BEST FITS THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS GEOGRAPHICALLY AND FINANCIALLY. ABC CONTRACTS WITH TWO HOUSING PROVIDERS, AS WELL AS THE REGIONAL BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AUTHORITY TO PROVIDE HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS. ON AN ANNUAL BASIS, OVER 2,025 INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILIES EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS ARE PROVIDED WITH TENANT BASED RENTAL ASSISTANCE.IN ADDITION TO CONTRACTING WITH THE RBHA FOR FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE FEDERAL HOUSING GRANTS, THE RBHA, MERCY MARICOPA INTEGRATED CARE (MMIC) HAS ESTABLISHED ITS OWN STATE HOUSING PROGRAM, MMIC SCATTERED SITES, WHICH IT HAS CONTRACTED WITH ABC TO MANAGE WITH AN OVERALL OBJECTIVE TO FUND 1,200 HOUSING UNITS. AS OF THE END OF 2018, THE PROGRAM WAS FUNDING 944 UNITS, PROVIDING HOUSING AND SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 1,175 INDIVIDUALS AND/OR FAMILIES WITH SMI AND/OR GENERAL MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS.
