Mission

The Tucson Hebrew Academy provides an exemplary education through stimulating, rigorous academics; inspired Jewish values and traditions; and an engaging, supportive community.

About

The 2018-19 school year was one of change for THA. With a change in the Head of School mid-year, plans to increase academic rigor, improve Judaic instruction, and provide professional development to staff to support those changes became the focus. Enrollment ended the year at 134. Fourteen students and two chaperones attended the annual Israel Experience trip, traveling to Israel in May.Both Upper and Lower Schools saw positive changes through the collaboration of new and existing staff members. THA continued to build on student enrichment programs. A third year of grant funding allowed for sustained programming in the Orthodox Jewish education track. In March, THA hosted the sixth annual STEM Festival, the largest in southern Arizona, connecting over 40 science, technology, engineering, and math vendors and researchers with 1,500+ attendees. The THA organization continues to improve the infrastructure that supports our students learning. During the 2018-19 school year, updates included a new stage in the cafeteria/auditorium. The organizations largest single fundraising event, Tikkun Olam, was successful once again in attracting donors interested in supporting THAs work. THA continued the Shlichim program, an exchange program for educators from Israel.Plans for the 2019-20 academic year were approved and included Challenge Based Learning; a 3-year professional development plan; implementation of a new Hebrew language program; and new policies on nutrition and immunizations.THA continues to grow and change to meet the needs of our student population, while creating an environment for learning that strongly supports our established mission.
