The Steve Forsyth Memorial Fund commemorates Steve’s values of perseverance, a passion for self improvement and his ‘can do’ attitude. Our mission is to empower like-minded young people with opportunity and compassion. We honor Steve’s memory with need-based higher education scholarships for high school seniors and financial support for at-risk (homeless) children within our community.
About
Steve can only be described as a trailblazer; both in life and in legacy. When someone needed to be first, he was the guy; fear didn’t seem to be in his bones and, of course, a little spotlight helped him take his first step. With a genuine curiosity for life, business, creative thinking, self-improvement and leadership; he approached most things in life enthusiastically prepared. Steve never wanted to stop learning nor leveling up, his growth-mindset and natural no-fear mentality, mixed with a God-given ability to converse with anybody, gave him a distinctive edge. He wanted the same for everyone around him, part of his quest to be the very best version of himself was helping others discover what they were enthusiastic about, what was going to give them their own distinct direction to success. Professionally he was a leader, someone whom people respected for his strong work ethic and charismatic personality. Steadily working his way through the corporate ranks in media sales, he became trusted, respected and overall well-liked within the industry. Staying true to himself, is how he achieved his success. Always honest (sometimes brutally so) but never letting you out the door without a story or two from something he read or just heard – making you feel better, motivated, leaving the room with a smile and the desire to not make that mistake again. He just cared. Cared about the work but a lot about the impact he was making on others. There was a passion behind what he did that was palpable, work was never just work; it was the people, the place, the thing – it’s something made quite an impression on his kids Katie and Alex. Not many couples can meet in an office environment and continue to work together for 15 years as they raise kids together, but somehow it was never a big deal for Carla and Steve – they only forgot to pick up Alex once. In life you knew if Steve was around – you could hear him, he was loud, he was tall, he made people laugh. There was never really a stranger to Steve Forsyth. He could and would talk to anyone, finding a commonality between their lives, often coming to the dinner table with stories about who he met that day and how it impacted him. He was so generous with his time, he showed up for his friends, his family and his coworkers with a level of enthusiasm that could knock you over. As much as laughter was his currency, reflection was his escape, he gained a lot of experience in his 45 years and being thankful for what got him to today, that day whatever it was, never seemed to be taken for granted. Steve’s positivity and zest for life brought so much joy to the people who he loved and we continue to carry on his spirit of generosity, enthusiasm and trailblazing.
