The mission of Jazz Aspen Snowmass is to present and preserve jazz and related forms of music through world-class festivals, performances and education programs. Local music education includes the following: 2,130 plus music faculty hours funded at local area schools; 1,500 students served through various programs and activities. The organization has funded 157 hours of private lessons given to 70 students. 2018 total Jazz Aspen local education program expenditures of more than $219,000, compared to the average local public school music budget averaging $2,000. Other programs include stuff for students (an equipment purchase program); as well as, JAS summer camps, and JAS District 8 Honor Jazz Program. JAS has partnered with Berklee College of Music and awarded 2 students scholarships to attend a 5 week summer program at the Berklee School of Music.
