COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND POLICY WORK ARE CORE TO CIPC'S THEORY OF CHANGE. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE ORGANIZING AND POLICY TEAM INCLUDE TRACKING 83 BILLS IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE AND PROVIDING MEANINGFUL ANALYSIS INCLUDING BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND BUDGET CONSIDERATIONS TO MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE AND THEIR STAFF. EQUALLY SIGNIFICANT IS THE TRAINING OUR TEAMS PROVIDE TO OUR NETWORK OF COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS SO THAT THEY MAY REMAIN WELL INFORMED ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES IN THE STATEHOUSE AND THE PROCESS A BILL UNDERGOES TO BECOME AN EFFECTIVE LAW. IN 2018, CIPC LED CA PROTECTING IMMIGRANT FAMILIES, A NETWORK OF 75 ORGANIZATIONS, TO MOBILIZE AND INFORM IMPACTED COMMUNITIES ABOUT THE PROPOSED "PUBLIC CHARGE" REGULATION. THEIR ADVOCACY AND OUTREACH EFFORTS RESULTED IN THE SUBMISSION OF APPROXIMATELY 10,000 COMMENTS AGAINST THE PROPOSAL. CIPC CONDUCTED 110 KNOW YOUR HEALTH CARE RIGHTS PRESENTATIONS AND PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND TRAINING ABOUT THE PROPOSED PUBLIC CHARGE REGULATION. CIPC ALSO SPEARHEADED A RESEARCH PROJECT ALONG WITH THE CHILDREN'S PARTNERSHIP, WHICH CULMINATED IN THE HEALTHY MIND, HEALTHY FUTURE REPORT AND A STATEWIDE SYMPOSIUM.EACH YEAR, CIPC HOSTS THE LARGEST CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND ADVOCACY DAY IN SACRAMENTO. NEARLY 1,000 IMMIGRANT RIGHTS' LEADERS AND ADVOCATES, REPRESENTING MORE THAN 75 ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE, RALLY IN MAY DEMANDING COURAGEOUS ACTION FROM OUR STATE GOVERNMENT TO PRESERVE AND EXPAND HEALTH AND OTHER SOCIAL SAFETY NET PROGRAMS, IMMIGRANT INCLUSION INVESTMENTS AND DETENTION AND DEPORTATION RELATED JUSTICE. IN DECEMBER 2018, CIPC BROUGHT TOGETHER 296 IMMIGRANT RIGHTS ADVOCATES AND ORGANIZERS FROM ALL OVER THE STATE AND COUNTRY FOR THE CIPC STATEWIDE CONFERENCE. OVER 160 GROUPS WERE REPRESENTED IN LOS ANGELES ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5 FOR A DAY OF POWERFUL DISCUSSIONS TO TRANSFORM OUR PRESENT AND CLAIM OUR FUTURE. 13 PLENARIES FOR THE DAY BROUGHT POLICY, ORGANIZING, LEGISLATIVE, AND MEDIA EXPERTS TO DISCUSS STRENGTHENING POLICY, COMMUNICATIONS, ADVOCACY, AND ORGANIZING. ENGAGED IN POWERFUL AND STRATEGIC DISCUSSIONS, LEADERS LEFT PREPARED TO CHAMPION IMMIGRANT JUSTICE IN 2019.
