About this organization
Mission
Our mission is to foster interpersonal skills in youth and adults recovering from struggles such as grief, abuse, addictions, post-traumatic stress, and memory loss through an educational program called Drumbeat, which engages participants who are resistant to talk-based therapies.
About
Drums in Recovery is under contract with John E. Polk Correctional Facility to provide a recurring 10-session Drumbeat program. The overwhelming success of the program to boost morale and reduce anti-social behavior and depression resulted in contract renewal under their transitioning inmate programs. Upon graduation and their release, inmates are eligible to join the existing Drumbeat team on the 'outside'. This assures graduates a continued road to recovery, having a support network in place and potential sponsors.
