Mission

The Cancer Couch Foundation (TCCF) is a 501c3 non-profit corporation founded by Rebecca Timlin-Scalera, PhD, in 2016 to raise money exclusively for research on metastatic breast cancer (mbc). After her diagnosis in 2015, Rebecca quickly became aware of the dire need for more funding for this stage of the disease, the one that kills you. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and 30% of those with early stage breast cancer (Stages 1-3) will eventually be re-diagnosed with mbc (Stage 4). While there are thankfully more treatments becoming available for mbc, there is still no cure, and the average prognosis remains at 2-3 years. TCCF funds two cutting edge labs led by Dr. Nikhil Wagle of Dana Farber, and Dr. Sarat Chandarlapaty at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
