Mission

CALIFORNIA SPECTRUM CARE AIMS TO CREATE AND SUSTAIN A CULTURE OF INCLUSIVITY WITHIN THE COMMUNITIES IT SERVES FOR NEURODIVERSE INDIVIDUALS.

About

GROW CALIFORNIA SPECTRUM CARE OFFERS A COMMUNITY INTEGRATION PROGRAM CALLED THE GOALS FOR REACHING OCCUPATIONAL WORK (G.R.O.W.) PROGRAM WHICH IS DESIGNED TO TARGET THE NEEDS OF EVERY CLIENT ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. CLIENTS ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES THAT RANGE FROM COOKING CLASSES TO JOB SKILL TRAINING MODULES ON A WEEKLY BASIS THROUGH COMMUNITY-BASED INSTRUCTION. AT THE START OF THE 2018 YEAR, THE G.R.O.W. PROGRAM SERVED APPROXIMATELY 12 INDIVIDUAL'S AND ENDED THE YEAR WITH APPROXIMATELY 32 INDIVIDUALS, WHO LIVE IN THE SANTA CARLITA VALLEY AND ARE DIAGNOSED WITH A DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY SUCH AS AUTISM. SOME SUCCESSES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR HAVE INCLUDED THE G.R.O.W. PROGRAM SECURING MULTIPLE JOB INTERVIEWS, INTERNSHIPS, VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE LOCAL AREA FOR THE CLIENTS IT SERVES. IN ADDITION TO THESE SUCCESSES, THE G.R.O.W. PROGRAM HAS CONTINUED TO DEVELOP A DYNAMIC CURRICULUM THAT TARGETS THE NEEDS OF THE VAST SPECTRUM OF SEVERITY AND CLIENTS IT SERVES. THIS CURRICULUM AND LEVEL OF SERVICE IS UNIQUE TO CALIFORNIA SPECTRUM CARE, OFFERING A SERVICE THAT HAS NOT BEEN MATCHED IN THE NORTHERN LOS ANGELES VALLEY. BECAUSE OF THIS UNIQUE SERVICE AND SPECIALIZED ONE-ON-ONE CARE, CLIENTS THAT HAVE BEEN TURNED AWAY BY SIMILAR ORGANIZATIONS BECAUSE OF THEIR BEHAVIORAL OR COGNITIVE DEFICITS HAVE FOUND SUCCESS IN THE G.R.O.W. PROGRAM. LASTLY, CALIFORNIA SPECTRUM CARE HAS ACCOMPLISHED AND EXCEEDED ITS SECOND MILESTONE IN GROWTH MOSTLY DUE TO THE G.R.O.W. PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM IS ONE OF VERY FEW PROGRAMS IN THE NORTHERN LOS ANGELES REGION AND IS THE ONLY PROGRAM THAT OFFERS ONE-ON-ONE INSTRUCTION FOR ALL CLIENTS ENROLLED, DESPITE THEIR LEVEL OF SEVERITY. CALIFORNIA SPECTRUM CARE LOOKS FORWARD TO ANOTHER PRODUCTIVE AND SUCCESSFUL YEAR TOWARDS FULFILLING ITS MISSION AND THE CLIENTS IT SERVES.
