The Campaign to Stop GE Trees: In 2018, GJEP presented to the National Academy of Sciences on the social and ecological risks of genetically engineered trees for a report they wrote on the potential for using biotechnology to address forest health, which came out in January 2019. GJEP coordinated a national meeting to discuss efforts to prevent the release of genetically engineered American chestnut (GEAC) trees into wild forests. The Campaign also developed a white paper on the topic of the GEAC called "Biotechnology for Forest Health? The test case of the GE American chestnut". The white paper was finished an printed in early F.Y. 2019. The campaign organized a media webinar on the GEAC which included national participation by experts on the risks and impacts of the GEAC, who presented this information to the media on the webinar. The Campaign reached millions of people with its concerns about GE trees through an op-ed in The Hill, and articles in several large and small publications.
