In 2019, the Moonlight Community Foundation continued to see tremendous growth in both the value of grant requests received and money awarded. The foundation had 39 grant requests over the two cycles, totaling over $455,185, and in turn gave $276,688 to area non-profits. These grants ranged in scope from the introduction of new classroom technology at Morningstar Learning Center, scholarship opportunities for local high school students to attend Montana Wilderness School's youth wilderness program, to Gallatin River Task Force's sustainability initiative and Upper Deer Creek Restoration Project, to increased support for the Big Sky Community Housing Trust Big Sky Workforce Down Payment Assistance Program and more. The foundation awarded 70 Camp Moonlight scholarships in 2019 to Big Sky youth, 35 full scholarships and 35 Big Sky Works partial scholarships, bringing down the total cost for local working families.
