About this organization
Mission
To provide music education to our pilot school - Rosewood Elementary
About
Provide a full-time music program at two LAUSD elementary schools, reaching approximately 70 children. Every child in both schools had music instruction in theory and vocal training once a week. Students in every grade except kindergarten received an additional day of instruction in a musical instrument, i.e., guitar, keyboard or drums. We continued to develop our music curriculum, working to incorporate more learning in the areas of theory and developing an understanding of different musical cultures around the world. At the end of each semester, the students had a performance to show what they had learned throughout the year. After school programs, we provided free vocal music class once a week for students exhibiting strong vocal skills and a desire to learn how to perform in public. The students required to audition and those who qualified attend the class. This class has approximately 25 students. At our camps, we provided guitar class for free once a week for all students expressing an interest in developing additional skills on the guitar. In partnership with the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, approximately 200 students submit artwork of their favorite musical instruments. Three drawings were picked by a panel of judges at CBTL and then incorporated in the general artwork for the labels of a specialty coffee sold on CBTL website.
