Volunteer physicians, a nurse practitioner and a physicians assistant provide primary medical care to clinic patients, the majority of whom have one or more chronic diseases. The clinics top diagnoses are hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, depression, obesity and breathing disorders. In addition to the direct patient care, the clinic assists patients in securing expensive medications and insulin at no charge through the patient assistance programs of the major drug companies; and nutritionists help patients with diet information. Volunteer dentists provide basic restorative dental care three evenings a month at an offsite location. A community case manager meets with new patients to help address socioeconomic needs.
