The society brings together scientists of various backgrounds who are engaged in research relevant to human milk and lactation with a goal of promoting excellence in research on all aspects of human lactation including the composition of human milk and the effects of human milk/breastfeeding upon the infant or the mother. During the current year, the society held its biennial meeting for approximately 300 attendees in Shannon Village, Kanagawa Japan. Other educational courses were held in conjunction with 3 affiliate societies.
