Mission

TO EDUCATE THE BOYS OF FORT BEND COUNTY, TX AND SURROUNDING AREAS IN CHORAL AND VOCAL MUSICAL ARTS.

About

MUSIC EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR 5 CHOIRS OF APPROXIMATELY 150 BOYS IN TOTAL: MUSIC MAGIC IS AN ENRICHMENT PROGRAM FOR 6 AND 7 YEAR OLD BOYS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT MUSIC, SINGING AND HAVING FUN. THIS IS AN 8 WEEK PROGRAM OFFERED EVERY SCHOOL SEMESTER. MUSIC MAGIC BRINGS MUSIC ALIVE FOR THE BOYS THROUGH THE USE OF MOVEMENT, SINGING, MUSICAL GAMES AND INSTRUMENTS. THE BOYS DEVELOP BETTER LARGE MUSCLE COORDINATION, PITCH MATCHING, INCREASED FOCUS, RHYTHM AWARENESS AND MUSICIANSHIP. TRAINING CHOIR IS OUR INTRODUCTORY CHOIR WHERE TECHNIQUES IN PHRASING, ENUNCIATION AND CHORAL BLEND ARE INTRODUCED. BOYS LEARN THE DISCIPLINES OF THE ORGANIZATION AND PERFORM PREDOMINANTLY IN THE LOCAL AREA. CHOIRBOYS MOVE UP TO EITHER TOWN OR TOUR CHOIRS BY AUDITION. TOWN CHOIR STRESSES CHORAL TECHNIQUES IN PHRASING, ENUNCIATION, AND MULTI-PART HARMONIZING. MUSIC BECOMES MORE COMPLEX. PERFORMANCES ARE USUALLY LOCAL, ALTHOUGH MORE VARIED IN NATURE. THE TOWN CHOIR ALSO COMPETES EVERY SPRING IN THE CHOIR FESTIVAL IN NEW BRAUNFELS, TX. PLACEMENT INTO TOUR CHOIR IS THROUGH AUDITION AT ANY TIME. AS OUR TOP-LEVEL PROFESSIONAL GROUP, THE TOUR CHOIR EMPHASIZES EXTENSIVE CHORAL TECHNIQUES. MUSIC INVOLVES VARIED TEMPOS, STYLES AND HARMONIC COMPLEXITIES. ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS ARE COMMISSIONED AND PERFORMED. PERFORMANCES INCLUDE WEDDINGS, SYMPHONY CALLABORATIONS, COMMERCIALS, AND HIGH PROFILE APPEARANCES. EACH YEAR THE TOUR CHOIR EMBARKS ON AN EXTENSIVE SUMMER CONCERT TOUR. THE CONCERT TOURS ARE DEVELOPED AROUND PERFORMANCE SCHEDULES AND INCORPORATE A CLOSER LOOK AT AMERICAN AND FOREIGN HISTORY. THEY HAVE ALSO RELEASED NUMEROUS CD RECORDINGS. CANTABILE, OUR ALUMNI CHOIR, WAS FORMED IN 1997 TO PERFORM FOR THE ORGANIZATION'S 15TH ANNIVERSARY SPRING CONCERT. DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE BY BOTH PARTICIPANTS AND AUDIENCE, IT WAS DECIDED TO CONTINUE THIS PROGRAM. CANTABILE IS OPEN TO ALL ALUMNI MEMBERS WHO "VOICED OUT" OF THE OTHER THREE CHOIRS. AS OF SPRING 2014, CANTABILE WAS RESTRUCTURED TO FORM A PERFORMING ENSEMBLE EVERY FIVE YEARS, ON MAJOR ANNIVERSARY YEARS. BEFORE THE START OF EACH CHOIR SEASON, THE TOUR CHOIRBOYS ATTEND THEIR SUMMER VOCAL TRAINING CENTER, CAMP ZENGIT GUTENPROPER. FOR A WEEK THEY RECEIVE INSTRUCTION IN VOCAL TECHNIQUE, MUSIC THEORY, REPERTOIRE, MOVEMENT AND STAGE PRESENCE. THEY ALSO PARTICIPATE IN CRAFTS, SPORTS, SWIMMING, AND OTHER RELATED CAMP ACTIVITIES WHILE EXPERIENCING A WELL-BALANCED BLEND OF FUN AND REHEARSING, HOME-COOKED MEALS AND A STIMULATING PROGRAM WITH EXCITING GOALS. BOYISH ENERGY IS CHANNELED INTO DEDICATION TO EXCEL, TEAM EFFORT, AND HARD WORK. IN THIS INFORMAL SETTING, THE BONDING PROCESS, SO ESSENTIAL TO A CHORAL ENSEMBLE, BEGINS. IN JANUARY, THE BOYS AGAIN HEAD BACK TO CAMP FOR THEIR WINTER RETREAT. THESE 2 CAMP EXPERIENCE HAVE BECOME AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE ENTIRE TOUR PROGRAM, HELPING TRANSFORM YOUNG BOYS INTO MATURE CHORISTERS.
