Lumin Education was founded in 1978 and serves more than 600 children and their parents in these programs: 1) Pregnancy to age 3 (P-3) home visiting parent education program, 2) Daily Montessori classes for children ages 1 to 5 (B4Six classroom program), and 3) Daily Montessori classes for children ages 6 to 9 (Elementary classroom program). In spite of growing up in neighborhoods that struggle with poverty, illiteracy, and high dropout rates, 96% of Lumin's third grade alumni have successfully completed high school or earned a G.E.D. and 89% attend college.
