About this organization
Mission
Transition Habitat Conservancy protects transition zone and wildlife corridor ecosystems and their scenic, agricultural, and cultural resource values in the West Mojave Desert. We provide education about the fragile and inspirational nature of our desert plants, animals, and ecosystems to connect people to nature.
About
Portal Ridge Wildlife Preserve. We acquired an 120-acres via a grant from the Wildlife Conservation Board, obtained a 160-acre conservation easement near the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve through a mitigation project, and we added an additional 200 acres to the preserve through a different mitigation project. We effectively monitored and patrolled all 2,860 acres within the preserve project area and ensured that no illegal poaching occurred. Trails for hikers and equestrians public access were maintained and created. We also conducted native seed collection and dispersal events, removed debris and barbed wire fencing.
