THE CORPORATION'S MISSION IS TO ADDRESS THE DIAPER GAP AND ITS IMPACT ON INDIVIDUALS IN CRISIS. IN 2019, THE CORPORATION OPERATED SIX PROGRAMS THAT INCLUDED: DIAPER ASSISTANCE, INCONTINENCE ASSISTANCE, HEALTHY WOMEN PERIOD, MY HEALTHY CHILD, CALM PARENT, AND DISASTER RELIEF. THE CORPORATION IS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH MUCH OF THIS THROUGH ITS APPROACH OF PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER NONPROFIT AGENCIES AND HEALTH SERVICES PROVIDERS TO PROVIDE SUCH PROGRAMS. THE COROPORATION'S STAFF EXPERTISE IS ENROLLMENT AND PROCUREMENT OF SERVICES FOR THEIR CLIENT POPULATION. THROUGH THIS ONE-STOP SHOP APPROACH TO SERVICES, THE CORPORATION HELPS BREAK DOWN LANGUAGE, TRANSPORTATION AND OTHER BARRIERS THAT MAY STOP SOMEONE FROM SEEKING SERVICES. THE CORPORATION ALSO DEVELOPS AND COORDINATES SITES FROM WHICH THE SERVICES ARE TO BE DELIVERED. THE SITES HAVE INCLUDED PARTNER CHURCHES, NON-PARTNER CHURCHES AND OTHER ENTITIES LOCATED IN THE POOREST SECTIONS OF THE STATE. A TOTAL OF 83,307 INDIVIDUALS WERE DIRECTLY BENEFITTED DURING 2019.A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THOSE SIX PROGRAM AREAS ARE AS FOLLOWS:Diaper AssistanceAlleviates the effects of the diaper gap a lack of an adequate supply of diapers by providing diapers, wipes, and other healthcare supplies to low-income families with children ages 0 to 4. Incontinence Assistance Alleviates the effects of the incontinence gap a lack of an adequate supply of incontinence products by providing adult diapers, liners, pads and other healthcare supplies to low-income seniors and families with children with disabilities.Healthy Women PeriodAlleviates the effects of period poverty by providing monthly period supplies and offering holistic self-care workshops. My Healthy ChildLessening the physical health impacts of the diaper gap, TDB focuses on child health and wellness classes. Through an exclusive partnership with Methodist Healthcare Ministries, TDB offers its My Healthy Child program in 8 counties. Taught by MHMs team of professional Wesley Nurses, these workshops cover child healthcare topics, such as illness management and healthy habits that enable participants to parent better. To complement the skills that parents learn in these classes, TDB supplements materials that class participants learn about to apply these skills later. Calm ParentTDB created Calm Parent to strengthen parent-child bonding. To develop this connection, parents must reduce resentment and stress toward their crying child. TDB offers parents classes that teach clients valuable parenting skills from a calm approach. Participants not only gain these skills but also receive specialized resource kits to implement these newly-learned skills. TDB offers three one-hour classes: Diapering, Potty Training, and Baby Proofing. Disaster ReliefThe Disaster Relief program supplies those affected by natural disasters in Texas with diapersthe only organization in Texas explicitly providing diapers to victims. TDB collaborates with partner agencies that coordinate and provide relief services to communities affected by natural disasters.
