The mission of VSA Arts of Texas (VSA) is to challenge the perceptions of how people contribute by creating an arts-inspired inclusive community of individuals with diverse abilities.
About
Recognized on a national level for excellent and ground-breaking programming, VSA Arts of Texas is specifically designed to serve children and adults who often face physical, social, and attitudinal barriers to participation in the arts. Award-winning programs include: access to public art and professional development for educators and artists. Program goals include: enhancing the personal growth of artists with disabilities, offering Texans access to the creative work of people with diverse abilities, and providing support and training that stimulates an inclusive arts community in Texas. Awards include: Lex Frieden Employment Governor's Trophy Award by Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities (2014); Bert Kruger Smith Vision Award by Age of Central Texas (2012); Martha Arbuckle Meritorious Service Award by Austin Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities (2012); National Award for Excellence in Organization Management by VSA Arts (2008); and, the National Award for Educational Arts Programming by VSA Arts (2006).
