Reaching Maximum Independence, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation whose purpose is to provide high quality residential and vocational alternatives in San Antonio and suburban neighborhoods for persons with developmental disabilities and related disabilities (organic personality disorder, mental health disabilities, seizure disorder, etc.). A group of seven families with adult children/siblings with disabilities originally founded our organization through The Association for Retarded Citizens in 1982. RMI was separately incorporated in 1988 and obtained our 501 (C) (3) in 1990. We had a name change several years ago and became Reaching Maximum Independence.THROUGH ITS HOUSING OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND OTHER PROGRAMS, THEY WERE ABLE TO ACCOMODATE APPROXIMATELY 219 INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES IN RESIDENTIAL AND REHAB PROGRAMS.
