DURING THE 2018-19 SEASON, THE SYMPHONY SOCIETY OF SAN ANTONIO (DBA SAN ANTONIO SYMPHONY) PERFORMED 28 CLASSICS SERIES CONCERTS; 14 POPS SERIES CONCETS; SIX MOVIE SERIES CONCERTS A SIDE-BY-SIDE PERFORMANCE WITH THE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA OF YOUTH ORCHESTRAS OF SAN ANTONIO; AND 22 YOUNG PEOPLE'S CONCERTS. THIS SEASON, WE PRESENTED OUR ARTIST IN RESIDENCE VERONICA WILLIAMS, A LOCAL MEZZO-SOPRANO WITH BUDDING NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR HER POIGNANT AND INSPIRING PERFORMANCES.OUR 2018-19 COMMUNITY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES FEATURED SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS AND PERFORMANCES ACROSS SAN ANTONIO AND SURROUNDING AREAS. IN MAY 2019, WE PRESENTED OUR PATRIOTIC POPS PROGRAM AT BROOKS AIRFORCE BASE AS A FREE COMMUNITY CONCERT. IN TOTAL, 43 COMMUNITY OUTREACH PRESENTATIONS AND PERFORMANCES WERE CONDUCTED, INCLUDING 30 SAN ANTONIO PUBLIC LIBRARY COMMUNITY CONCERTS.IN JULY 2018, TEN SELECT PERFORMANCES FROM THE 2017-2018 CLASSICS SERIES BEGAN AIRING ON TEXAS PUBLIC RADIO'S (TPR)STATATIONS KPAC 88.3FM AND KTXI 90.1FM IN TPR'S "PERFORMANCE SATURDAY" PROGRAM, WHICH HIGHLIGHTS LOCALLY RECORDED CLASSICAL CONCERTS. THESE SUMMER BROADCASTS PLAY AN INSTRUMENTAL ROLE IN MAINTAINING OUT CONNECTION TO THE COMMUNITY DURING THE OFF-SEASON. WE PERFORMED EDUCATIONAL YOUNG PEOPLE'S CONCERTS FOR 35,346 STUDENTS; IN TOTAL MORE THAN 39,000 STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND PARENT HOMESCHOOL EDUCATORS ATTENDED THE CONCERTS. OF THESE STUDENTS, 66% ATTEND TITLE I DESIGNATED SCHOOLS WITH HIGH POPULATIONS OF AT RISK AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS. OVER 16,000 STUDENTS ATTENDED THE YOUNG PEOPLE'S CONCERTS AS A RESULT OF TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE THAT WE PROVIDE TO THE SCHOOLS. OVER 400 PUBLIC, PRIVATE, AND HOME SCHOOLS WERE SERVED BY THE 2018-19 YPC PROGRAMMING. ADDITIONALLY, OVER 4,400 STUDENTS WERE SERVED DUE TO THREE SATELLITE YPC CONCERTS ADDED IN LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS DURING THE 2018-19 SEASON. AS PART OF OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING, THE SYMPHONY CONDUCTED IN-SCHOOL DOCENT VISITS, PERFORMANCES, MASTERCLASSES AND GROUP INSTRUCTION SECTIONALS AT 51 AREA SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES. WE OFFERED SEVEN OPEN REHEARSALS FOR AREA UNIVERSITY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC STUDENTS AND OTHERS, WITH 4,800 STUDENTS ATTENDED. WE PRESENTED A MASTER CLASS WITH AUGUSTIN HADELICH, ENABLING GIFTED LOCAL STUDENTS TO RECEIVE TRAINING FROM ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST RENOWNED VIOLINISTS; 120 AREA RESIDENTS, INCLUDING MUSIC EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS, CAME TO OBSERVE AND LEARN.
