We are Arkansas' leading adult learning advocacy organization. ALA supports the efforts of literacy councils across the state. Together we work to improve the quality of life through raising reading, math, digital, health, financial, and English literacy.

Arkansas Reads Americorps Program - This program provides 25 Americorps members who tutor, recruit, and train adult learners and volunteers tutors in approximately 11 community-based literacy councils around the state. At the end of the program year, the members will be responsible for tutoring over 375 adult learners in basic literacy or ESL, and over 125 adult learners in soft skills development training. In addition, the members will leverage a minimum of 125 volunteers who will be engaged in tutoring adult learners in the programs.
