Mission

Arcata Press | Saint Paul Almanac is a literary-centered arts organization. We share stories across cultures and cultivate dialogue to promote understanding, relationships, and collaborative action.

About

Over the past Thirteen years, Arcata Press | Saint Paul Almanac has blossomed from the idea of a democratic literary arts entity representative of St. Paul's diverse voices into a proven high-quality, acclaimed literary arts organization in which residents from all corners of the city are engaged. We create ongoing, artistically excellent community activities to showcase and honor a wide spectrum of local voices. We publish an award-wining yearly Almanac featuring both accomplished and emerging writers. We envision all people giving voice to their stories and learning how to make written work powerful and unique. A key component of our work is mentoring. Projects are designed to foster leadership; encourage connections among and between established, emerging, and beginning writers; and build, strengthen, and leverage additional opportunities for the literary community. We form win-win partnerships with schools, libraries, small businesses, and community groups to make arts a vital part of community life. Small businesses host our literary events, bringing increased readership and new revenue to every part of our city. Among our partnerships are 1) reading series in more than 12 coffee houses and cafes, augmenting the visibility of these small businesses, as well as promoting our writers; and 2) workshops in schools and other locations. The Digital Public Library of America publishes all of our almanacs online for national dissemination.
