Project Access: Mission & History Since 2005, the mission of Project Access has been to help low-income, uninsured Palm Beach County residents obtain health coverage, connect them to volunteer specialty healthcare providers, and link them with vital community resources needed to live a healthy life. By working directly with Palm Beach County Free Clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers, Project Access links patients directly with specialty healthcare services, dental services, diagnostic imaging and hospital care through the Project Access Direct Care program. Over the past 13 years, the program has provided access to healthcare for over 13,000 PBC residents and $13.4 million in charitable care through the over 700 volunteer healthcare providers that have donated their services to the program. Project Access 2017 Data: In 2017 Project Access served roughly 1000 individuals in PBC with accessing healthcare and community resource needs. Nearly 400 patients were provided Direct Care with PA volunteer physicians; 188 were assisted with obtaining ACA Marketplace plans; 44 were assisted with obtaining community resources through PA Community Connections; and approximately 350 individuals were given health coverage information via phone or community health fair events. The total cost of services provided through Project Access in 2017 was $1.3 million.
