Consistent with the program's purpose, funds were raised through an appeal of the public in Sarasota and Manatee counties. As a result of the public's response 16,644 ten dollar food gift cards were distributed to participating non-profit agencies and churches to forward to their needy. In conjunction a Thanksgiving food drive was administered resulting in approximately 80 tons of food and over 1,500 turkeys distributed to these same participating agencies and churches.
