HOSPICE SERVICES: For 40 years, Hosparus, Inc., dba Hosparus Health, a fully accredited nonprofit hospice and palliative care organization, has provided medical care, grief counseling, pain management and much more for people facing serious and life-limiting illnesses in Kentucky and Indiana. Hosparus Health has over 650 employees and 600 volunteers who care for more than 7,500 patients and families every year. Hospice and palliative care is the premier model for quality, compassionate care for people facing life-limiting illnesses or injury. Our care involved treatments that enhance a patients' comfort and quality of life. Care also addresses patients and families emotional and spiritual needs. All services are delivered wherever a patient calls home- 24 hour a day, 7 days a week. Care locations include a family residence, a nursing home, an assisted living facility, an inpatient unit or a hospital. Our services include: pain control, control of symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath and restlessness. We provide medication management, personal care such as bathing, skin care, light housekeeping counseling and spiritual care. Interdisciplinary teams for hospice and palliative care patients include Board Certified Physicians, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Grief Counselors and Social Workers, Chaplains and Volunteers. Hosparus, Inc. operates an inpatient care center at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion (27 beds) in Louisville, KY. The center offers patients short-term care in private rooms to treat chronic pain and other symptoms associated with life-limiting illnesses not responsive to home care, such as respiratory distress, end-stage cardiac symptoms, nausea, and vomiting.
