The society's goal is to help maintain the current sea turtle population and to prevent a potentially irreversible decline in the population through: maintaining a storefront where visitors can view and discuss sea turtle displays and learn about protection of the species. Merchandise is available for the public to purchase and all proceeds fund various sea turtle functions and programs. Sea turtle preservation works to promote and reduce disturbances and harrassment of sea turtle nesting by conducting guided nighttime sea turtle nesting walks. The guided walks help to educate the public regarding lighting ordinances, nesting issues, fishing issues for seaturtles and overall habitat destruction due to pollution and human interaction. They also provide stranding assisitance to hatchlings and adult seaturtles and transport to rehab facilities around the state of Florida. Sea turtle preservation society also works with the organization 'Keep Brevard Beautiful' helping with beach cleanups.
