Mission

Wylde Center's mission is to connect people to nature through greenspaces, gardens, and education to build more resilient communities. WC provides communities with opportunities to connect with the natural world and change views about what we eat, the value of nature, and how we interact with it. We accomplish this through: 1.) Environmental & Health Education Programs for school-aged children, with a focus on under-resourced communities lacking in access to greenspace, school enrichment programs, and/or fresh fruits and vegetables, 2.) Urban Greenspace Conservation & Native Habitat Restoration; and 3.) Community Gardening and Sustainability Education to build grassroots environmental awareness and community resilience

Wylde Centers program teaches students the basics of gardening which includes preparation of harvested fruits and vegetables as well as how to explore the science of the natural world through hands-on activities that line up with curriculum standards. In 2018, Wylde Center continued to see growth in all educational programs: Field Trips: Wylde Center's field trips bring students to Wylde Centers five greenspaces to explore the science of the natural world. Field trips engage students in first-hand discoveries about topics from agriculture to zoology and everything in between. Classes are led by highly trained and enthusiastic environmental educators.
