About this organization
Mission
The Alamance County Community YMCA's mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
About
Healthy living (4a) The YMCA is committed to improving America's health and well-being, community by community. We bring families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, 12,464 individuals in our community are receiving the support, guidance and resources through YMCA membership and programs they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with chronic disease and obesity, families wrestle with work/life balance and individuals search for personal fulfillment. Beyond fitness facilities, on an average day we provide 27 hours of group exercise instruction and programs that support physical, intellectual and spiritual strength to over 275 individuals. Over 2,400 families spent valuable, quality time together through YMCA special events. These events encourage parents and children to spend time together building the foundation for a positive, life-long healthy family relationship. Special events include Healthy Kid's Day, Father/Daughter Dance, Y Adventure Guides and Community Health Fairs
