THE MISSION OF LAKE JUNALUSKA IS TO BE A PLACE OF CHRISTIAN HOSPITALITY WHERE LIVES ARE TRANSFORMED THROUGH RENEWAL OF SOUL, MIND, AND BODY. LAKE JUNALUSKA'S COMMITMENT TO TRANSFORMATION MANIFESTED IN 2018 WITH MORE THAN $5MILLION INVESTED IN THE FOLLOWING FACILITY UPGRADES.1. BRIDGE OVER THE DAM: AS A RESULT OF CHARITABLE GIVING AND SERVICE CHARGES FROM PROPERTY OWNERS, RESTORATION OF THE BRIDGE OVER THE DAM CONCLUDED IN 2018. IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDED REPLACEMENT OF THE BRIDGE'S STEEL SUPPORT BEAMS AND DECKING. ORIGINALLY ESTIMATED AT $1.2 MILLION, RESTORATION CAME IN JUST UNDER $850,000 - 30% UNDER BUDGET. 2. IMPLEMENTATION OF MAESTRO:3. LAMBUTH INN RENOVATION: BEGINNING IN JANUARY 2018 AND COMPLETED IN MAY 2018, LAMBUTH INN RECEIVED A $3.2 MILLION INTERIOR RENOVATION. RENOVATIONS INCLUDED UPDATES TO MORE THAN 100 SLEEPING ROOMS, BATHROOMS, HALLWAYS, THE DINING ROOM, THE LOBBY AND ALL MEETING ROOMS.4. MEDITATION AND FISHING PIER: AS A RESULT OF A CHARITABLE GIFT, LAKE JUNALUSKA CONSTRUCTED A NEW MEDITATION AND FISHING PIER THAT EXTENDS OVER 40 FEET INTO THE WATER. THE PIER IS LOCATED ALONG THE LAKE JUNALUSKA WALKING TRAIL AND PROVIDES A PLACE FOR MEDITATION AND REFLECTION WITH INCREDIBLE LAKE VIEWS.5. BOAT PIER: DURING THE SPRING OF 2018, RENOVATIONS TO THE 35-YEAR OLD PIER BEHIND HARRELL CENTER BEGAN. WOODEN PLANKS TAKEN FROM THE BRIDGE OVER THE LAKE JUNALUSKA DAM WERE RECYCLED AND USED TO REBUILD THE PIER.6. PRAYER LABYRINTH: COMPLETELY FUNDED THROUGH THE GENEROUS GIFTS OF MULTIPLE DONORS, RENOVATIONS OF THE PRAYER LABYRINTH IMPROVED APPEARANCE AND FUNCTIONALITY. IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDED THE INSTALLATION OF AN INFORMATIONAL SIGN, AND SETTING THE LABYRINTH WITH SPECIALLY CUT TENNESSEE FLAGSTONE TO MAKE THE PATH LEVEL WITH THE GRASS. 7. REVITALIZATION OF YOUTH MINISTRIES AND YOUNG ADULT FACILITIES: THANKS TO A CHARITABLE GIFT, LAKE JUNALUSKA IS INVESTING MORE THAN $400,000 IN THE REVITALIZATION OF YOUTH MINISTRIES. AS PART OF THE 2018 EFFORTS, IMPROVEMENTS TO MOUNTAINVIEW AND THE LAKE JUNALUSKA APARTMENTS INCLUDED FRESH PAINT, NEW BEDS, MATTRESSES, BEDDING AND LAMPS..8. WALKING TRAIL: AS A RESULT OF CHARITABLE GIVING, IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE TO SEVERAL SECTIONS OF THE 3.8 MILE WALKING TRAIL, INCLUDING FIXING IRREGULARITIES OF THE SURFACE, INCLUDING CRACKS, DIPS AND POTHOLES. IMPROVEMENTS TO FRANCIS ASBURY TRAIL INCLUDED MULCH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TRAIL TO HELP WITH EROSION CONTROL, THE REMOVAL OF INVASIVE SPECIES OF PLANTS, TREES AND SHRUBBERY, AND THE REMOVAL OF FIVE DEAD AND DYING PINE TREES.9. POOL: AS A RESULT OF THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF THE JUNALUSKA ASSOCIATES, THE LAKE JUNALUSKA POOL WAS COMPLETELY RE-PLASTERED PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE 2018 SUMMER SEASON. 10. NANCI WELDON GYM: AS A RESULT OF CHARITABLE GIVING, THE GYM BATHROOMS WERE RENOVATED.11. GOLF COURSE: AS A RESULT OF CHARITABLE GIVING, IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE TO THE LAKE JUNALUSKA GOLF COURSE, INCLUDING AERATION OF THE GREENS AND FAIRWAYS, NEW SAND, PRUNING AND TRIMMING OF VEGETATION.
