United Way makes allocation/support payments to approximately 60 non-profit agencies in Raleigh, Nicholas, Summers, Wyoming, Fayette, McDowell and Mercer counties in Southern West Virginia and the town of Bluefield, Virginia. It also provides direct assistance to individuals through its internally managed literacy program, 2-1-1 social services and informational hotlline, feeding initiative, pregnancy education, and equal footing shoe program.
