About

Provide election for an education concerning legendary Virginians. Install plaques that honor these inductees on Virginia Beach owned public garden walk, in the heart of the resort, dedicated to this purpose. The 2019 inductees include Commodore Matthew Fontaine Maury and Dr. Ralph Stanley. Nominations were received from across the globe, and approximately 450 statewide judges voted. These electors are comprised of prominient news editors, heads of historical societies, and heads of Virginia colleges and universities. About 6,0000 4th grade students in the city of Virginia Beach received baseball-style cards with historical facts about the honorees inducted since the beginning of Virginia Legends Walk, as did other schools that requested them. The park is designed to accommodate several new Virginia legends during the next few years.
