About

Project Read: Rotarians and others share a half hour of reading to K-2 students at local schools every weekday morning. The schools identify students who are not read to at home, and the sessions are one-on-one or very small groups. Project Read was started by the club more than 10 years ago. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Seminar: The club sponsors up to 5 high school students to attend this weekend leadership event each year. More than 100 youth from the Rotary District participate in activities that focus on leadership, team-building, ethics, service, and personal development. Blacks Run Cleanup: The club has been fielding a team of Rotarians and families for about 20 years for this annual community effort to clean up the creek running through the city. Salvation Army Bell-Ringing: The club assumes responsibility for staffing a collection site for a week each year. Well of Hope: The Well of Hope communities in Kenya provide land and build houses for widows and their children who are otherwise outcast because of community fear of AIDS. In addition to providing recurring support for land and houses, the club leveraged funding of a well with club, district and Rotary Foundation money.
