AFAC is an independent, community-based non-profit food pantry that provides dignified access to nutritious supplemental groceries to all our Arlington neighbors in need. In doing so, AFAC makes it possible for vulnerable families in our community to devote their limited resources to financial obligations such as housing, utilities, and other basic needs.

In fiscal year 2019 AFAC served 5,357 families made up of 13,088 individuals residing in Arlington County - 35% of these individuals were children (4,349) under the age of 18. An average of 2,204 families were served each week at S Nelson St or at one of 18 other distributions sites around the County for a total of 116,590 visits to receive their weekly food supplies. During a visit a family will be able to select a variety of healthy, nutritious food including milk, eggs, fresh fruit & vegetables, pasta, sauces, cereals breads, pastries and a number of miscellaneous items. In addition, AFAC provides backpacks of food to students in the Arlington Public Schools who do not have sufficient foods supplies over weekends and long holidays. AFAC received 1,304,503 lbs through food donations from individuals, business, congregations, and other community organizations and purchased another 1,600,235 lbs of food for distribution to our families. In total 2,904,738 lbs of food where distributed.
