Mission

To foster and improve the cultural environment of the city of Norfolk and surrounding areas through live on-stage theatrical productions. To provide quality art, affordable to the community, and to make available training for those interested in the theatre.

About

The Little Theatre of Norfolk, a completely volunteer community theatre began in 1926, incorporated March 11, 1933, and moved to its current location in 1950. Since its inception, the theater has provided local artists a chance to explore for the first time or to hone their craft through acting, directing, design or other aspects of technical work. During WWII extra performances were held for the families and military in the area. Many of those performances were USO style. Currently, the Little Theatre of Norfolk is one of the oldest continuously running community theaters in the nation. Five productions are presented each year, including two musicals, with 12 performances each. In FY17, we served over 4065 with the help of 227 volunteers. In addition, we increased our educational programs free to the public in theater related topics.
