Mission
The League of Women Voters supports and encourages active and informed participation of the citizens of Washington, D.C. in their local government and to increase understanding of public policy issues facing District residents. The goal is to make complex and controversial issues facing our city accessible to the non-expert citizen in a balanced manner, to gather citizens with diverse views, and to share our studies and publications with current and future community leaders.

We are the League of Women Voters of the District of Columbia, a state and local affiliate of the League of Women Voters of the United States serving the people of Washington, DC, and a member of the League of Women Voters of the National Capital Area. LWVDC is a nonpartisan organization that encourages the informed and active participation in government.
