About
Think East Africa (TEA) is a Texas based, Christ centered, Burundi registered non-profit development organization with a mission to serve and equip the people of Burundi. TEA is the primary, in-country partner for clean water projects. We are collaborating with other organizations while developing a border-to-border, national water strategy based on the goal of providing sustainable access to clean water for every Burundian community by the end of 2028.Burundi was the second lowest per capita GDP in 2018, according to the International Monetary Fund. Political and ethnic conflict has had a negative impact on the social and economic development in the region. TEA is working to provide the basic need of water as efficiently as possible to the people of Burundi. In 2018, we completed construction, training, and maintenance of 83 water systems and rehabilitated 9 hand pump systems. TEA has a functioning maintenance program that provides training, parts, and support to sustain new and previously constructed wells. At the end of 2018, TEA was supporting 277 wells. In addition to our core work, grants were provided to support other local ministries.
