GIRL VOW IS FOCUSED ON MINIMIZING THE RISKS OF GIRLS/LGBTQ YOUTH IMPACTED BY JUVENILE JUSTICE, POVERTY, AND FOSTER CARE BY PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES, COLLABORATIONS WITH PRIVATE, AND PUBLIC ENTERPRISES IN ORDER TO HELP TRANSITION DISADVANTAGED YOUTH INTO SERVICES THAT WILL LEAD TO CAREER SUSTAINABILITY, TRAINING, OR POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. GIRL VOW IS DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF GIRLS/LGBTQ YOUTH WHO ARE FORGOTTEN, HIGH RISK, FOR WHOM IT IS DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN A FOSTER HOME PLACEMENT, ARE IMPACTED BY POVERTY, OR HAVE EXPERIENCED INCARCERATION. OUR YOUTH ARE DEFINED AS HARD TO PLACE BY MOST SYSTEMS AND HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE OUT-OF-HOME PLACEMENTS.IN 2017, GIRL VOW LAUNCHED AN EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVE IN SUPPORT OFYOUNG WOMEN WHO WANT TO PURSUE A HIGHER LEVEL OF EDUCATION, ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS, AND REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. IN 2018, GIRL VOW HAD FOUR ELIGIBLE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES. ALL FOUR PARTICIPANTS BECAME FIRST-GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENTS WITH ONE ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANT ATTENDING COLLEGE IN THE SPRING. GIRL VOW STAFF WILL FOLLOW EACH PARTICIPANT THROUGH GRADUATION AND MONITOR THEIR RETENTION. OUR STAFF SUCCESSFULLY OBTAINED VITAL DOCUMENTS FOR ALL OUR PARTICIPANTS TO ESTABLISH AN ECONOMIC PIPELINE. AS A RESULT, 100% OF OUR YOUTH WHO WERE ELIGIBLE RECEIVED SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT WHICH IS A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT. AS ONE OF THE CHOSEN PARTNERS TO PARTAKE IN THE RAISE THE AGE TRANSITION (RTA), GIRL VOW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSEEING THE TRANSITION OF 16-17 YEAR-OLD GIRLS WHO WERE PREVIOUSLY HELD ON RIKERS ISLAND. OUR SUCCESS LED US TO WORK AT AN ADMINISTRATION FOR CHILDREN SERVICES (A SECURE DETENTION CENTER) CROSSROADS IN BROOKLYN AND HORIZONS IN THE SOUTH BRONX. AS A RESULT OF OUR SERVICES, GIRL VOW WAS ASKED BY THE ADMINISTRATION OF CHILDREN SERVICES (ACS) TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR JUSTICE-INVOLVED BOYS TO DISCUSS ABOUT FEMINISM. THE STAFF PROUDLY SERVED 50. GIRL VOW HAS ACHIEVED THE FOLLOWING ACCOMPLISHMENTS: OUR STAFF CONDUCTED 384 WORKSHOPS ON RIKERS ISLAND AND IN JUVENILE DETENTION CENTERS THROUGHOUT NYC. 90% OF OUR EMPLOYEES HAVE BEEN JUSTICE-INVOLVED OR IMPACTED BY THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. 60% OF OUR YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING AND 75% OF OUR YOUTH HAVE REACHED THEIR MILESTONES. 60% OF OUR PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED JOB INTERVIEWS AND 100% OF OUR YOUTH HAVE BEEN MATCHED WITH A MENTOR. GIRL VOW FOUGHT AND HELPED A TEEN PARENT OBTAIN UNSUPERVISED VISITS WITH HER 15-MONTH-OLD SON WHO IS IN FOSTER CARE. SHE IS MOVING TOWARDS TRIAL DISCHARGE AND WILL OBTAIN FULL CUSTODY. OUR STAFF PROVIDED EMOTIONAL SOCIAL AND FAMILY SUPPORT FOR TWO PARTICIPANTS WITH SUICIDAL IDEATION WHO WERE IN THE PSYCH WARD. EACH PARTICIPANT IS STABLE AND SUCCESSFULLY ENROLLED IN HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE.
