Mission
The Melting Pot Foundation provides free, world-class culinary vocational training to Brownsville residents through our culinary training program. We work with our on-site partners, Collective Fare, to offer a safe, comfortable space where neighbors can access fresh, healthy, affordable, culturally relevant foods, prepared by training program participants apprenticing alongside seasoned industry professionals. The BCCC is available to community groups seeking to organize and address issues affecting the neighborhood, and to celebrate, relax, learn, train, and enjoy each other’s company.

IN 2018, THE MELTING POT FOUNDATION USA, INC.'S BROWNSVILLE COMMUNITY CULINARY CENTER(BCCC) BROUGHT 58 PARTICIPANTS INTO ITS PROGRAM, TRAINING THEM IN THE CULINARY ARTS. OF THOSE 58, 70% FULLY COMPLETED THE PROGRAM AND WERE PLACED INTO JOBS IN THE CULINARY INDUSTRY. THE CAFE AND BAKERY AT THE BCCC SERVED THOUSANDS OF BROWNSVILLE RESIDENTS AND GUESTS HEALTHY, DELICIOUS MEALS, DESIGNED IN THE TRADITION OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA, AT AFFORDABLE PRICES, WITH 25% OF CUSTOMERS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE 50% DISCOUNT FOR RECIPIENTS OF SNAP BENEFITS. THE BCCC HOSTED 3 GUEST CHEF SERIES EVENTS IN WHICH FAMOUS AFRICAN AMERICAN CHEFS CAME AND PREPARED DINNERS FOR THE BROWNSVILLE COMMUNITY IN ADDITION TO HOLDING COOKING CLASSES FOR COMMUNITY RESIDENTS. FINALLY, MORE THAN A DOZEN COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS HELD MEETINGS, EVENTS, AND INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS AT THE BCCC FREE OF CHARGE, USING THE SPACE FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES AND PROGRAMMING DESIGNED TO UPLIFT THE COMMUNITY.
