Twenty-one students attended the three-week music curriculum during June-July, 2018 in Monte San Savino, Italy. Six of these students received scholarship aid ranging from $100 to $2,240 from IYAP. The scholarship awards were based on financial need and were applied to reduce the students' trip cost. The program culminated with the students performing two mini-operas for the general public. Students also performed ten public performances in four Italian towns featuring Broadway musical theater and Italian/American art songs. The performances were so well received that the IYAP program was invited back to Italy again in 2019 as well as receiving offers for consideration to perform the musical theater production in Sweden and China in the future. The IYAP 2018 summer program performances helped many of the high school and college-aged students enhance their college scholarship opportunities & provide motivation in their professional careers.
