Our mission is to honor Americas Veterans for all their service and sacrifices. Honor Flight Maine (HFM) provides 3 to 5 trips per year to transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to tour, experience and reflect at their memorials, including WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Navy, Marines, USCG, Army, and Air Force. About
In 2019 we transported 200 veterans to Washington D.C. for which we covered round trip air, 2 nights at the Hilton (BWI), chartered bus transportation and all meals. They were transported by bus to see their memorials including WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Navy, Marines, USCG, Army, and Air Force, the Lincoln Memorial, Arlington Cemetery with the changing of the guard and the Women's Military Museum. We take our WWII veterans as priority but also include Korean and Vietnam veterans. Our goal is to get all Maine Veterans of these wars to see their memorials at no cost to them. Upon their return flight to Maine, we have mail call for all of our veterans. The finale at the airport is a water cannon of the plane by the fire department and a welcome home by representatives from all branches of the service, boy and girl scouts, family, friends, bag pipers, shriners, local legions, fire and police personnel, the Freeport Flag Ladies and on occasion the Governor, his wife, and state Representatives.
