About this organization
Mission
MCCE is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization working to ensure that Maine's campaign finance laws, elections, and government serve the public interest, both in principal and practice.
About
Maine Citizens for Clean Elections works to engage Maine people from across the political spectrum, using research, education, and outreach to further fairness, inclusion, and opportunity in our politics. We believe in the importance of the Maine Clean Elections Act, the first system of full public financing for state candidates in the country, passed via referendum in 1996. Achievements in 2018-19 include successfully developing civics curriculum and piloting its use in middle schools, producing webinars for members of the public on civic engagement and advocacy, translating voter education material into Arabic and Somali, and continuing to educate voters on ranked choice voting in advance of the November 2018 election.
